Factors to consider before cleaning your appliances

Disinfection of your home appliances is somewhat different from the process of disinfecting other stuff, and it requires more care than we even think. You can not just take a disinfectant and a piece of cloth for this process; you have to make sure you are taking proper care of the factors that need to be considered in this process. Here is a little brief on how you must prepare before starting the disinfecting process for your home appliances.
- You must follow proper safety precautions for working with home appliances. Electrical hazards include exposed energized parts and unguarded electrical equipment which may become energized without warning. Such equipment always carries warning signs like “Shock Risk”. You should always be vigilant of such signs and follow the safety rules created by the electrical code followed by the country you are in. You need to make sure you unplug that machine if it is an electrical appliance to eliminate the risk of any current as you are working with liquids and fluids.
- Do not dip your electrical equipment in any kind of disinfecting liquids unless it is explicitly permitted to do so, it is always indicated by equipment markings or instructions of the original equipment manufacturer. You have to use home disinfectant only on specific electrical equipment and not all appliances are meant to be cleaned with the same disinfectant. You must not apply liquid or acidic substances on to electrical equipment unless both the electrical equipment and substance to be applied are specifically approved for that use. Correspondingly, you should never fog equipment with disinfectant unless explicitly approved for that use
- You must be careful when using liquids. If any form of liquid or atomized solution is approved for use by the equipment manufacturer, you must carefully follow the instructions. You must use only the specific solution and applicator, taking all specified pre-application preparations e.g., closing openings before application on the de-energized electrical equipment. You must allow the disinfection solution to dry prior to reenergizing the equipment.
